Where art meets nature
I am honoured to have had the opportunity to go on a road trip adventure with talented filmmaker Dylan Steenpoorte, and capture stunning visuals of Paper Rain’s wooden art boards, featuring incredible designs by local artists. Paper Rain is a New Zealand-based company, dedicated to highlighting the magic of New Zealand artists, weaving their unique creative perspective and stories into their handcrafted skate decks.
As professional freelancing photographers and filmmakers, we are both passionate about capturing and creating visuals for small businesses, creative entrepreneurs and artists. Dylan loves capturing the artistry of local talents and is passionate about showcasing the creativity of gifted individuals through the lens of his camera. The Adventure
With creative freedom and inspiration from New Zealand scenery, we embarked on a road trip adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of the South Island to showcase these extraordinary creations.
Our journey led us through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular spots. Starting in Lake Tekapo, we hiked through the Hooker Valley track, drove through the golden hills of Lindis Pass, and finally reached the serene beauty of Wanaka. Each location offered a unique canvas to capture the essence of Paper Rain’s art boards.
Our hearts were stolen by the enchanting Hooker Valley Track. With our camera gear and art boards, we trekked through the valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains, crossing swing bridges over rivers of melted glaciers, we reached the most incredible view of Hooker Lake, framed by the majestic presence of Mount Cook.
The warm hues of the setting sun danced across the rugged landscapes, creating a dreamy backdrop as we began capturing the boards. The lake’s icy blue waters mirrored the beauty of the boards engravings, making it the perfect spot for showcasing Paper Rain’s creations, incredible local artists work, and the essence of New Zealand.
As the sun fell further behind the mountain, we raced against time, ensuring we captured every last gleam of light with our boards and equipment. It was a thrilling and adrenaline-pumping experience that encapsulated the spirit of our adventure.
Our adventure allowed us to showcase the incredible talent of Paper Rain and their featured artists amongst the beauty of New Zealand’s natural wonders. Nature put on the perfect show for us to highlight the quality and artistic details of the boards engravings, while also capturing the magic of the South Island’s scenery.
