Bay of Islands

North of the North Island

I had hardly been to the North Island of New Zealand, so I took an opportunity to take my family with me to The Bay of Islands, far north of the North Island.

Unfortunately we happened to be staying there over a period of rainy weather. We rarely saw the sun, but when we did, we often saw a rainbow.

We stayed at Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands.

Russell

I wonder how many years this tree has been alive for. And I wonder, if it had eyes, what stories it could tell about people passing by.

An interesting succulent wall near the Main Street in Russell.

A slippery sloped 20 minute walk up the muddy hill was definitely worth it for this view.

Hole in the Rock

Several dolphins followed us for a while, which I will share videos of soon. The ocean was too rough to go through the hole in the rock.

Rainbow Falls

A magical must-see in KeriKeri.

KeriKeri

The Old Packhouse Market in Kerikeri. If you love markets, you mustn’t miss this. There is a lot to be found here.

Marsden Estate winery provided a great wine tasting experience.

The Pear Tree, a cosy waterfront restaurant next to The Stone Store. Named “The Pear Tree” after a 200 year old pear tree nearby. The atmosphere of this place was lovely.

More photos/videos coming soon.
